My name is Robin Williams; I’m a piano tuner and technician with over ten years of experience.
I trained in piano tuning, restoration and repair at the renowned Newark School of Musical Instrument Crafts, and later completed three courses at the Royal Academy of Music in London covering grand and upright piano servicing as well as regulation and advanced regulation techniques.
I have worked for piano manufacturers and major dealers, and I now work with concert venues, schools, universities and private clients across Yorkshire.

This is applicable if your piano is very flat or has not undergone piano tuning for an extended period.
In the event that your piano requires service and is deemed not serviceable, a call out fee will apply to cover the time and fuel.
Many small repairs can be offered for free as part of a tuning appointment but I will always provide an estimate where an additional charge does apply. Below are some example prices for common repairs.

The price of bass strings varies as they are bespoke. The £60 price shown is therefore an estimate.
Servicing and regulation are essential for the optimal performance of your piano and are often overlooked. If you notice issues like notes failing to sound when playing softly or inconsistent touch, it’s likely time for a service.

The frequency at which a piano needs tuning can vary depending on several factors, including the piano's age, quality, environmental conditions, and usage. In general, most pianos benefit from regular tuning at least once or twice a year
A pitch raise, also known as a pitch correction or pitch adjustment, involves raising the pitch of all the strings of a piano to return it to standard pitch before a fine-tuning is performed. The purpose of a pitch raise is to correct a piano that has fallen significantly flat due to various factors such as changes in temperature and humidity, neglect, or a long period without tuning.
In some cases, such as in older pianos or pianos in poor condition, it may not be advisable to perform a pitch raise as the additional tension of the stings could lead to damage or make the piano unstable. In this instance I would simply tune the piano to itself and a standard fee of £75 would apply.

In the southern part of my coverage, I include Doncaster, Scunthorpe, and the areas in between. This really depends on the condition of the instrument but I normally expect an appointment to last between one to two hours.
Yes, it is likely your piano will need to be tuned after it has been moved to a new location. Where possible I advise waiting a week or two to give the instrument some time to acclimatise to its new environment.
